Red Lodge and Fishing on Yellowstone River

Yesterday my Mom took Cody fishing. They have a little boat so they go out on the river and fish for bass and whatever else they can catch. Cody took a little camera so he could take photos of the trip. He got some of my brother Jacob and some of Mom. He had so much fun and has talked non-stop about the trip. He even ended up catching three fish. Its so nice my Mom takes him to do that kind of thing. He loves it so much but unfortunately for him his mom does not. He was even able to use his fishing pole and tackle box. When they got home him and my moms husband Tom took a pic with all the fish they got that day. While Cody was on the river Emily and I went to Red Lodge with my sister Sandy and her daughter Bayleigh. Our first stop was a toy store where the girls got rocks. Yep we went to a toy store and left with rocks but what can I say this is Montana. We had to stop and take a pic with the bear in front of the store. Then we went down main street and looked at different cute little stores. In one of the stores we got the girls "best friend" bracelets. After that they kept saying "we aren't cousins anymore we are best friends". One had the cutest sign in front of the store. While on main street we found the "Cody Wild West Show". My sisters boyfriend Joe joined us and we had lunch then stoped at the candy store. They had a very cool piano that played by its self, Emily had to break out in a dance.
After that we went to a "zoo". It mostly had wolves, coyotes, some birds, a pony and a mountain lion (who was not a happy camper that day). But with our tour guides we were able to find our way around with no problems. After that we took the long way home. It was so much fun spending the day with my sister and her family. It was a great way to start of spring and get back into the sunshine.

Derby Car Race

This weekend we had Cody's big derby car race. We cut the cars out of blocks, then painted them and made them look very cool with personal touches. Cody wanted his blue with some red on it. We got him little spider man tattoos for it and put on his army man with the gun. He picked the way it was to look all by himself and I did the cutting of the wood for him. Emily wasn't with us when we cut them so I picked decided how her car would look and did the cutting and sanding for her. When we painted though she had to have pink with lots of beads and a cat driving.
They both came out so cute, however I didn't know about some powder you can put on the wheels that makes them go faster. So they both lost the races. We had to have them weighed in and had to be under 5 oz, that doesn't sound like much till you actually weigh them. I had put penny's and nickles under them to weigh them down but ended up having to add more last min. Emily raced first with the open class and she took 4th in all 4 of her races. Over all she ended up with 23 out of 24 not bad for our first race. Cody and the other boy scouts raced after open was over and he took 4th in three races and 3rd in the last one. Cody ended up 32 out of 33 boys but they wouldn't let me take a pic of the official one for the scouts. Both kids had a blast with the races and I told them that was the main thing. Next year if we do scouts I'm so getting that black powder.

Trying out the Blog thing

This is my first try at this stuff so bare with me with the randomness. The weather here has been so funky lately, leaving the kids with huge spring fever. One day we are enjoying the sun and the next we have 5 inches of snow again. I do wounder why we live here, makes me really miss Cali. Emily keeps asking when the snow will go away and the we can go back to the beach. Speaking of Emily she has been so big into playing dress up lately. She loves to walk around in high heel shoes and her pretty dresses. The other day she was really into singing Katie Parry's Hot N Cold so I took a video of her signing along (though the sound kind of sucks its not the best camera for that kind of stuff)

She just loves doing things like that, as long as no one is around. Cody has been doing really good lately with his drawing. He works really hard on them and they always have very detailed items on them. Here's one of his first ones, its one of the chars off Wall-E. He got some how to draw books on his birthday and this was one of them. They both have been doing good in school. Hard to believe its almost over already. Cody is doing amazing in math, he is always asking people what is 5 and 4 or other random numbers and knows the answer. Emily is doing so good in everything at school. Her teacher calls her the leader of the class. She just got a couple tickets to the collage basketball games here for being the excellent student of her grade. Well I guess that is all for today. I will try and update it whenever we have something to talk about.
