Zoo and the Carnivel

The PBR was in town and thanks to my sister I was able to take the kids. Cody thought it was the coolest thing, he laughed then the bull wouldn't go in the gate, cheered the cowboy when he was riding the bull and just really enjoyed it. While he watched it I found myself thinking this could be bad, I might have just created a monster. Emily on the other hand, she loved that she got to wear Michelle's pink cowboy hat, after all it matched perfect with her pink cowboy boots. The rodeo itself she didn't care, about 9:30 I looked over and she was going to sleep so we headed home. I had to promise to take Cody to the one this year at the fair, he was not happy about not seeing the rest of it. Last week was Earth Day so this weekend the zoo put on a Earth Day celebration. They had all kinds of little tables set up, with lots of fun things for the kids to do. They got to talk to some weather men, and for kids that watch the weather channel it was perfect. Even better they had a little tornado that showed how tornado's are made, the kids have been asking so many questions and now they have answers. They also had a little area that you launched water rockets put drops of water on a penny and made boats out of paper to see how many penny's you could get on the boat before it went under. After we did all the activities we stoped to take a photo with the fake animals
and then headed off to look at the real ones. The weather was just perfect all the animals were out, we even got to see one that I have never seen before. The tiger was sound asleep by the window so we got a up close look at him, we could even see the paws and how big they are. Makes me happy not to live in Africa where you could come in contact with one in the wild.

After the zoo we headed off to the carnival which gets better every time we go. Emily is finally big enough to go on most the big rides, and they both think the kid rides are no fun. The first ride she did was the swings, while waiting in line she looked scared to death. They get to get on the seats and the nice girl that was behind them in line showed her how to do the seat belt, and then the ride went up and around and around and from that moment when she stuck her hands out she was hooked on big kid rides.
Cody wanted to go on this ride, so he ran over and up he went. The first time he went up he looked terrified then the next time he came down he looked so happy.
After a little bit we went into the mall and talked to a few of the cowboys from the night before, got a drink and headed back out. We rode rides for the next three hours, we then came home for dinner, chilled around for a few minutes and headed back to ride some in the dark. It was at that moment I went back to being a kid and seeing all the lights on the rides and thinking it was the most magical thing I have ever seen, and you know I still think it is the most magical thing you can see.

A day of hikeing

Last weekend my mom took Cody fishing leaving Emily and I to spend some girl time. The fishing trip didn't have many fish, in fact only my mom got one and from what I am told that was the only bite. So I don't have a photo of Cody and his catch to post up this week. Emily and I decided to go up to the Pictograph Caves and enjoyed the wonderful spring weather with a hike up the hills.

After we spent about 2 hours there we headed to a park where my sister and her girls joined us. The girls had so much fun playing and we spent a good part of the afternoon there.

After that we came home enjoyed some BBQ'ed hamburgers and headed to mom's house to play until the boys came home. I am so happy spring is finally here, we are one step closer to summer.

Circus 2010

Today I took the kids to the circus and sense we went to the early show so I picked the kids up from school. When I got there Emily asked if her BFF Kim could come and join us and after we checked with her Grandma it was off to the circus with my kids plus one. We got there a little early so the kids rode the elephants and then we went and found a good spot to sit and waited for the show to start. Cody started out sitting next to Kim but then decided he was much better in the row behind us next to the older gentlemen that was sitting by himself. While waiting we found Chuck E Cheese and the kids got so excited.
We had a clown walk by and Cody had to go tell him something, turns out that something was he had seen the clown toss popcorn at a boy and he was trying to the get the clown to dump popcorn and Emily and Kim. It was then time for the circus to start with the star spangled banner
and followed by the tigers. The tigers are such pretty animals
but its a little scary to think of how close you are sitting to them and nothing but you and a chain fence to keep that tiger away. This photo was taken without a zoom. The coolest part of that show is when the tiger jumps the ring of fire, the kids just sat there waiting to see it. After that was more of some fun shows, with everything from the ring of death
to trapeze to the girls who did a dance before getting on the ropes. And lots of animals like colored poodles and bears. At half time Emily wanted ride the pony's so she went over and did that then they all got a light up sword's with there own money. It was neat to see them make choices on what to spend there money on and if something was worth it to them. Cody's favorite part was the clowns and Emily said her favorite part was the pretty girls in the air. It was so funny when they brought out the elephants and they were playing some get up and dance music my daughter and Kim got up and danced. We were sitting in fount of two older couples and the two lady's kept laughing at the girls. This elephant I just loved, he looked like he was smiling for the whole show. Over the years the circus hasn't changed much but what has changed is how much the kids really get into it. I love seeing the complete joy in there faces when they watch it or listening to the sounds of all the kids just laughing when the clowns come out. Its something I remember from my childhood and I am so happy it is still around and I am able to share it with my kids. Sorry some of the photo's aren't to great, I had the setting wrong and didn't realize it until the circus was almost over.
