Fomberg and Cooney

Yesterday we started our day in Fromberg, Montana. They were having an annual party out there for old west days. We got there and our first stop was this museum where they had little things dating back to the 1800's, before Montana was even a state. The kids loved this little train and they lady that worked there got it going for them. After that we went outside to look at the old farm equipment, Cody loved it and wanted to sit on it all (which the lady said was OK). Emily didn't want anything to do with it, after all it was dirty. We then went up to main street to look at the different booths they had set up. Emily got so upset when she saw the hides of the animals, they she asked the lady why did they kill them and did they kill a cat. When the hunting lady told her why and no they didn't Emily was OK with them and wanted to touch them. Cody on the other hand was right there checking them out and looking at the little details of toes, insides and everything. Hunting might have to be on the next thing he learns, but again hes not learning it from me. We then were on the way up the street and ran into a girl the kids age who had got a frog so we had to stop and check out her frog.
It was almost time for the parade at that point so we got some snow cones and sat down to wait. The parade started and by the end I think the kids ended up with more candy then they do on Halloween with the parade. I had to laugh though the parade was so "big" it came around the block twice only in small towns would you see that. Emily got so excited when the horses came down the street and the cheerleaders came behind the band. All Cody cared about was the candy, but he did really good when the boy scouts came down with the flags, he did the boyscout sign as they passed us. Then after the parade the Cody Outlaws come out to the street to do there show. They are a group of gunfighters who act out different skits with gun battle in them.

Cody loved these guys, all day today he has been playing cowboy with his guns. After the gunfights one of the girls pulled Cody out to the street to do a dance with her
then gave him a big kiss. We got a photo with the sheriff and each of the kids.
Then one with Emily and "the really pretty girl"
Then the "badguy" gave Cody a couple of shells form the blank bullets they used. Emily told me at one point her Mt Dew was much better with the sucker in her mouth. They then had Cotton Candy, can we say sugar high. The kids then played some games, got some cheerleader supplies they handed to all the kids and had some more sugar. On the way out we looked at a house that was built before 1907 and they had it all set up. The lady that owns the house showed Cody and Emily all about the stove and how they only had a fire place for light. Was really cool to see were they used the bathroom and how everything was in one room. On the way home we decided to stop by Cooney Lake and chill out there for a bit. It was a perfect day to be there, the sun was shinning and it was just the perfect hot with a light breeze.

We stayed there for a bit then it was time to go home. On the way we went by at this little dinner my sister had told me about. It had really good food and a little sand pit for the kids to play in. They also had the cutest carved out bears sitting by the bench's.
It was such a perfect day, one that you don't want to end but like all of them it does at some point. Here is a link to all the other photos I took (we took way to many yesterday.

First Day of First Grade

Today both the kids started first grade. They are both now officially in big kid school. Last night Emily was so excited she was bouncing off the walls, so I put some music on for her to dance to. After a few songs I had to tape one so I went with Love Story by Taylor Swift. Here is the video of her dancing and singing. This morning they both got up and were ready to get off to school. They had breakfast then got ready. Cody didn't care what he wore as long as he got to wear his tennis shoes. He was so happy because on the box it said the shoes have air in them. Emily has had her clothes picked out sense we went shopping. I took a photo of them together and then we were off to walk to school.
When I picked them up I asked how they liked it this year, both the kids said they really liked it. I was really happy to find out Cody knew quite a few kids in his class and Emily knew almost everyone I think and they both said they liked the teachers. Emily's best part of the day she said was making her own name tag, she said she used lots of pink. Cody said his highlight was that he gets to sit next to Lilly and lunch was yummy. I then took them to my work for a after school treat. Cody always gets the marshmallow brownie and Emily went with a cherry cream cheese pastry. Cody decided it was fun to untie Michelle's apron so she told him if he did it again she was going to kiss him, well he did it again. I feel kind of bad for her, she made the mistake of laughing so now anytime we go I know Cody will be going after the strings. After they finished the treats we went by the wishing pond and tossed in some coins for a wish. Emily had to stop and check out Dan's car on the way back to ours, one of these days I'm going to talk him into switching me. We got home and the kids did some reading, I taped Cody reading "There was a old lady who swallowed a shell". He thinks its a very funny book and has been trying to read it all, i got a just a few pages of him. Here is just a random photo from about a week ago. At day care the kids put food coloring in water and then took these white flowers, as the flowers drank the water it changed the colors and I thought they were really cool. When I went to take a photo Cody popped his head in and I thought it was cute.

Fair Time

I took the kids to the fair on Thursday, we got there about four and didn't leave until a quarter to eleven. We got there and went to do some looking around before the rides started up on the night time wrist ban. The first one we went to was the farm barn. Cody loves this barn, he loves to check out all the cows, look for chickens that poop out eggs and check out all the other farm stuff. Emily went around telling the different animals congrats on winning ribbons to any that had them above the cage, while Cody asked all the farmers what all the different things did. After that we went and got some dinner on the midway. Cody wanted pizza hut pizza and Emily picked the big foot long corn dog. After that we checked out the dog show for a bit, they thought the dog jump roping was so funny.
This dog was shown on Oprah one day. Once six hit we had our bans and we were riding rides. The first ride we did was the big giant slide, and finally Emily was big enough to ride alone. So up they both went to the top. Cody came down first followed by Emily and we were off after that.

Next was a new ride they had for kids,
then the kids did the air balloons. After that we moved to the big kid rides, Cody has begged me to let him do this ride you go straight up for about a minute then bam down in 3 seconds. He got off it and said "Mom my eyes were this big (then made circles over his eyes) can I go again. The photo I got of him coming down came out really dark for some reason so sorry its not that great.
I had him wait a minute and took them on Emily's favorite ride (after that drop ride he thought this one was very dull). Then for the rest of the night we rode big kid rides, we did the Thunder Bolt a few times, the tornado, tilt a whirl, ghost house, the dragon roller coaster, and many many more. The only ride the kids didn't like was the octopus. Toward the end of the night Emily rode the pony ride while Cody said he didn't want to. I was texting someone and some carnie dude comes up puts his hand over my phone and gets in my face. I asked him what was his problem and he pointed at a sign that says no photos. So i told him it was a text not a photo, then took a pic as he walked away, the photo sucked but its ok I wasn't going to take one anyways. After that Cody played a game (the one where they toss a dart at the balloons) and hit ever dart he had so he got a prize. Emily picked to have a caramel apple with sprinkles instead of a game. We had so much fun I wish we could go every day, even if we are still recovering from it. Here is just a couple random photos I took of the kids.

The perfect summer weekend

This weekend was one of those weekends you wish wouldn't end. The weather was perfect, the kids were in good moods and it was just a blast all weekend. The only down side was I somehow managed to delete my pictures off my camera so the ones I do have up to the concert are off the phone, so sorry for the bad quality of them. We started Saturday morning off by going to get the kids camp and time in Tennessee pictures developed (some of them are very good, others well lets just say I'm sure the people in Tennessee are glad I cant post them). While we were waiting for them to finish we went across the street to Home Depot, they were having some kind of craft thing for the kids to make. The kids loved making it and the best part was it was free. The project was to make these little message boards, so they got the aprons they are given when they received the kits. The first step was to hammer in some of the spots, holding the nail for a 6 year old who can hardly see over the table was one of my bravest moments of my life. After we got the hammering done it was time to screw in a few things. Then about 30 minutes later we had a message board, a certificate saying the did it right and a cute little pin they collect every time they go. It really was something right up Cody's alley. After that we got the pictures then headed up to the lake for some fun in the sun. We spent about 3 hours there and they were in and out of the water. They worked on a sand castle for about half the time, I wish I had the photo still it was very cute. They put little bushes, a mote and all kinds of details. Here is the couple pictures I took on my phone so I could have some updated stuff of them.

After we left the lake a friend of mine called us up to go see if we wanted to meet them at the park so off we went to enjoy some more sun. The kids had so much fun and they all played and played. After that we went to a concert they do here in town. Before it started they learned how to juggle, how to do fling these fire balls (without the fire) and sucked down some root beer floats. We then sat back and enjoyed the concert till the kids looked like they wanted to pass out. Sunday we got up and had a late start. I wasn't sure what we would end up doing so we just hoped in the car and drove. We took some back highways and the first stop was a site where back on Sept 13, 1877 the Nez Perce tribe and the Untied States Army lead by Samuel D Sturgis had a big fight for the land. It had some neat different items talking about it, here is the main one. After that we drove up toward Lockwood and found this park, it has to be the neatest park we have found yet here. The whole park was made out of wood and it was in the shape of a castle.
The kids had so much fun at it. After that we had a picnic lunch and then headed out toward Chief Plenty Coups State Park, however on the way out we found some nasty looking clouds so when we pulled over to look at another history site then we turned around and headed home. At that site we learned how Amos Bad Heart had drawn pictures of the Battle of the Little Big Horn many years after the battle, he was only seven years old when he watched it all happen. The photo in that link is one they have a copy of on the site. I am planning on taking the kids next Sunday to take the kids back out to the Chief Plenty Coups Park and really check it out. It was really a perfect weekend, one that makes me really not want summer (or the weekend) to end.
