Circus 2010

Today I took the kids to the circus and sense we went to the early show so I picked the kids up from school. When I got there Emily asked if her BFF Kim could come and join us and after we checked with her Grandma it was off to the circus with my kids plus one. We got there a little early so the kids rode the elephants and then we went and found a good spot to sit and waited for the show to start. Cody started out sitting next to Kim but then decided he was much better in the row behind us next to the older gentlemen that was sitting by himself. While waiting we found Chuck E Cheese and the kids got so excited.
We had a clown walk by and Cody had to go tell him something, turns out that something was he had seen the clown toss popcorn at a boy and he was trying to the get the clown to dump popcorn and Emily and Kim. It was then time for the circus to start with the star spangled banner
and followed by the tigers. The tigers are such pretty animals
but its a little scary to think of how close you are sitting to them and nothing but you and a chain fence to keep that tiger away. This photo was taken without a zoom. The coolest part of that show is when the tiger jumps the ring of fire, the kids just sat there waiting to see it. After that was more of some fun shows, with everything from the ring of death
to trapeze to the girls who did a dance before getting on the ropes. And lots of animals like colored poodles and bears. At half time Emily wanted ride the pony's so she went over and did that then they all got a light up sword's with there own money. It was neat to see them make choices on what to spend there money on and if something was worth it to them. Cody's favorite part was the clowns and Emily said her favorite part was the pretty girls in the air. It was so funny when they brought out the elephants and they were playing some get up and dance music my daughter and Kim got up and danced. We were sitting in fount of two older couples and the two lady's kept laughing at the girls. This elephant I just loved, he looked like he was smiling for the whole show. Over the years the circus hasn't changed much but what has changed is how much the kids really get into it. I love seeing the complete joy in there faces when they watch it or listening to the sounds of all the kids just laughing when the clowns come out. Its something I remember from my childhood and I am so happy it is still around and I am able to share it with my kids. Sorry some of the photo's aren't to great, I had the setting wrong and didn't realize it until the circus was almost over.

Easter weekend

Last weekend was Easter weekend which is always a fun one. We started it out with an egg hunt at Billings Federal Credit Union where my sister works and the kids got lots of eggs, the parking lot was empty withing 5 minutes of the rope cutting. On Saturday we were up really early so I got the kids dressed and took them out to the river to take some photos of them in their Easter clothes. I was hoping to get the sun coming up but it was really cloudy so there was no sun coming up. The photos still came out so amazing.

After that we went back home and got them out of there good clothes and into egg hunting clothes. As the day went on it got colder and wetter so we only did one egg hunt that day. The hunt we went to had all kind of games to play while waiting for our age group.

It also had cotton candy and snow cones (all though it was way to cold for a snow cone I thought). The Easter Bunny even took time out of her busy day to come join in the fun.

The best part about this egg hunt is everything was free, it is put on by a church here in town and really adds something to the community. After a bit it was time to go get the eggs for 1st-3rd grade so the kids lined up next to a couple friends and waited for the count down. While waiting we did some dancing to keep the kids warm.
Once they were off it was hard to keep track of Cody, Emily however was easy to see in her nice bright pink jacket. It took just a few minutes to get all those eggs cleaned up and once it was over you just wondered if it had really happened. After that we hung out with my sister for a little bit then headed home to paint eggs. The kids did a great job on them and they did it mess free this year which was a big bonus.

It was then time for dinner, baths and off to bed so the Easter Bunny could come and leave baskets and hide the eggs. The bunny decided not to do baskets this year, but instead did a tackle box for Cody
and a makeup box for Emily and the kids loved them. Cody thought his box and all the fish stuff was "awesome" and is already trying to get Grandma to take him out fishing again. Emily was so excited to get more nail polish and a box for all her makeup so it doesn't get lost anymore. After they looked at all their goodies

it was time to egg hunt,

and the Easter Bunny did a really good job hiding eggs, we are still finding them around the house. Good thing we use plastic ones and not the real smelly ones. After awhile we went out and saw my dad and then over to my moms to see her. Then it was time to come home to a very yummy Easter dinner with the kids and to end the Easter Day we took a road trip with my sister to go pick up her oldest daughter. I hope everyone had as wonderful Easter as we did, Happy Easter everyone.
