A Fishing Trip, A Wedding, Family and Caverns

I haven't been very good about updating this lately so I will do the last three weeks. To save space and time I just made most the photo's into a video and I will link the still shots I have on facebook.

The first was our fishing trip on the Yellowstone River. It was the last time we had really amazing weather, after that it got cold again. Emily actually enjoyed this trip, she got to wear a dress, got a couple fish (all though she wouldn't actually touch them) and we stoped by to have lunch on shore and she made friends with a puppy. Cody as always loved the trip. He only got one fish but the fish he got played with him. After we put it back in the river the fish would jump up by the boat somewhere and he did that for the longest time. Cody thought it would be fun to re catch him with the fish net, however the fish kept outsmarting him. It was a nice relaxing day with sunshine and my Mom and Tom.

The next weekend we had my sisters wedding. I am so happy that my baby sister has found someone who makes her happy. Joe I welcome you officially to our family. I know you have been part of it for awhile but now you are an official nut. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness and joy. No matter what bad things are tossed at you I believe you can both pull out over it. My sister looked amazing in her dress, it was worth every second of thought and questions she had. To have all my family in one room was a blast. It was a little rainy for awhile but the preacher asked for it to stop and put his hands to the sky it all stopped (I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it). After the wedding it was time for good food, good drink, lots of laughter and dancing. If anyone is looking for a place to do things Oscar Park was amazing.

This weekend we started it with a family get together out at Pizza Hut, those poor workers didn't know what hit them. My cousins girl was graduating from high school so everyone is in town to say congrats to that. I haven't seen her sense she was just a few months old and alot of the family that was there I haven't seen for as long. It was nice catching up on life in person and not just off facebook.

Yesterday I took the kids up to Lewis and Clark Caverns. It is a 3/4 mile hike up the mountain and a hour and half hike back down from the inside. Inside are all kinds of neat water drippings and rock formations, if I remember it right they are limestone. If anyone from Montana (or anyone coming to Montana) hasn't been I highly recommend you going. They tell the story of how when they first found this cave it would take 12 hours from start to finish, they would have to hike up from the river, down though the cave, back up the cave and back down to the river. I am so glad we now have cars and roads and it only takes two hours now. At one point they shut off all the lights and you saw what it looked like back when, you cant see a thing. I have never been anywhere where it was so dark. Some of these photos aren't the best, you couldn't use flash in some of the rooms (after all you don't want to wake the bats up). We had a little 6 month old baby in our group and she cried in one of the bat rooms and everyone shhhh'ed her at the same time, was kind of funny.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's that read this! Today was a great day for us. It started out with the kids giving me the gifts they made in school, and I already know I will miss these days when they end. Cody gave me a book he made (here are a few of the pages in the book)

, a card that grows with love, and a flower he grew at school. Emily gave me a cute little flower made out of figure prints and a poem, a really cute card (that has me BBQ'ing while she is playing) and made a potted flower at girl scouts. Yesterday when we were at Walmart they wanted to get me a rose so I let them each pick out one rose. After we opened the presents they wanted to make me breakfast so they went off to the kitchen to get the Fruit Loops and make me breakfast in bed. Later today we went out for dinner, you cant cook on Mother's Day after all. Then we went to Chameleon's Arts and Ice Cream where we got to paint some hot chocolate mugs and have ice cream. We then came home and watched Avatar and relaxed, it was the prefect Mother's Day thanks to the worlds best two kids.

Free Comics and Home Depot

This weekend we are having a nice quite weekend, however I had to let the kids out of the house for a little bit. We went up to Home Depot where the kids made flower pots, Cody is very stubborn and wont let anyone help him. He reads the directions himself and knows what to do.

Dave had told me it isfree comic book day so I took the kids over to Hastings for free comics. At first Cody didn't want the comics, only kids read those he said. Once I told him not just kids but adults do to he was cool with it then had to find the perfect two comics, G.I. Joe (it had guns and soldiers) and DC Kids. Emily looked for super girl but once she realized they didn't have any she went for Toy Story and Fragglerock. They are now sitting here so good reading there comics. It impresses me what good little readers they are becoming.

Zoo and the Carnivel

The PBR was in town and thanks to my sister I was able to take the kids. Cody thought it was the coolest thing, he laughed then the bull wouldn't go in the gate, cheered the cowboy when he was riding the bull and just really enjoyed it. While he watched it I found myself thinking this could be bad, I might have just created a monster. Emily on the other hand, she loved that she got to wear Michelle's pink cowboy hat, after all it matched perfect with her pink cowboy boots. The rodeo itself she didn't care, about 9:30 I looked over and she was going to sleep so we headed home. I had to promise to take Cody to the one this year at the fair, he was not happy about not seeing the rest of it. Last week was Earth Day so this weekend the zoo put on a Earth Day celebration. They had all kinds of little tables set up, with lots of fun things for the kids to do. They got to talk to some weather men, and for kids that watch the weather channel it was perfect. Even better they had a little tornado that showed how tornado's are made, the kids have been asking so many questions and now they have answers. They also had a little area that you launched water rockets put drops of water on a penny and made boats out of paper to see how many penny's you could get on the boat before it went under. After we did all the activities we stoped to take a photo with the fake animals
and then headed off to look at the real ones. The weather was just perfect all the animals were out, we even got to see one that I have never seen before. The tiger was sound asleep by the window so we got a up close look at him, we could even see the paws and how big they are. Makes me happy not to live in Africa where you could come in contact with one in the wild.

After the zoo we headed off to the carnival which gets better every time we go. Emily is finally big enough to go on most the big rides, and they both think the kid rides are no fun. The first ride she did was the swings, while waiting in line she looked scared to death. They get to get on the seats and the nice girl that was behind them in line showed her how to do the seat belt, and then the ride went up and around and around and from that moment when she stuck her hands out she was hooked on big kid rides.
Cody wanted to go on this ride, so he ran over and up he went. The first time he went up he looked terrified then the next time he came down he looked so happy.
After a little bit we went into the mall and talked to a few of the cowboys from the night before, got a drink and headed back out. We rode rides for the next three hours, we then came home for dinner, chilled around for a few minutes and headed back to ride some in the dark. It was at that moment I went back to being a kid and seeing all the lights on the rides and thinking it was the most magical thing I have ever seen, and you know I still think it is the most magical thing you can see.

A day of hikeing

Last weekend my mom took Cody fishing leaving Emily and I to spend some girl time. The fishing trip didn't have many fish, in fact only my mom got one and from what I am told that was the only bite. So I don't have a photo of Cody and his catch to post up this week. Emily and I decided to go up to the Pictograph Caves and enjoyed the wonderful spring weather with a hike up the hills.

After we spent about 2 hours there we headed to a park where my sister and her girls joined us. The girls had so much fun playing and we spent a good part of the afternoon there.

After that we came home enjoyed some BBQ'ed hamburgers and headed to mom's house to play until the boys came home. I am so happy spring is finally here, we are one step closer to summer.
